Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have cable TV, Sports, Movies?
Yes! Every TV is a smart TV and has all the main apps like Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+, Peacock, Paramount+, YouTube, and YouTubeTV. We highly recommend that you login to your accounts on these apps and logout before checking out. We will send you a reminder!
We use YouTube TV for local news, weather, sports and major networks. If you are not familiar with YouTube TV, it’s just like any other major cable provider – but it’s over wifi and possibly better! YouTube TV is logged in on our account so you should have no problem watching anything.
Every TV except the main TV in the great room uses the little white Chromecast remotes. The Great Room TV uses the LG remote. On all remotes, click the HOME button to populate the apps and select the app of choice. To back out, use the back arrow.
How do you open the garage?
Typically we keep a garage door remote in the drawer under the coffee pot. Just use that to open the garage door then unlock the slider for your stay.
Do you have a coffee pot?
Yes, we have a Cuisinart dual coffee maker that makes a pot of coffee on the left side or you can make a single serve cup of coffee with the K-Cup side on the right. We do provide some K-Cups and a tall jar of dark roast beans for your convenience. Please note, the filter basket on the left side of the Cuisinart machine, needs to be properly lined up with the grove inside. Unfortunately, it’s easy to put in there not lined up which makes a mess.
We also have an espresso machine and bean grinder so you can make all your favorite craft coffees as well as a French Press, water kettle, and some selections of tea. We’ve got your caffeine needs covered!
How do you heat the house?
We have brand new pellet stoves upstairs and down stairs. They are the quickest and most efficient way to heat the house. Feel free to grab more pellets in the garage on the bottom rack to keep the hoppers full. Try not to let the hoppers run dry or it will take a few tries to restart the pellet stoves.
The 3 bedrooms upstairs also have electric fire places in each room, which we often use in the winter. I highly recommend setting those electric heaters to 64 degrees for a comfy night sleep!
The nest thermostat controls the 4 year old electric heat pump on our roof. Because it’s electric, it is not very energy efficient and it’s very slow to heat the house – especially on the coldest days. Use the pellet stove!
Do you have Board Games?
Yes we have many games and activities around the house. Most of them are located in the brown ottoman in the great room, but some can be found in the Bunk Room too. Also, there is a secret compartment in the bunk room under the bay window bench with even more games!
Do we need to bring condiments like salt & pepper?
Typically the answer is no as we typically always have extra condiments in the house. That’s the one thing we will not throw out after each guests, unless it’s expired. We often have ketchup, mustard, mayo, pickles, spices, BBQ sauce, salad dressings, cooking oil, and more – but we can not guarantee anything will be there. Those things come and go with every stay. We recommend you leave the basics behind, take note of what we do have arrive, then head to MarVal’s grocery store right outside the gates and pick up anything you need.
Does it snow there?
Yes, but only a little bit in Pine Mountain Lake PML. We are at the 3000′ mark and only get snow on the coldest storms. I have seen a foot of snow in PML at the most – perfect for snowball fights and sledding. If we don’t have the snow in PML, you can probably find some as you get closer to Yosemite.
At the house, we only get a couple inches to a foot that maybe lasts for a couple days. We also have a snow shovel if you need to shovel the driveway off. After snow storms, the PML team typically makes their rounds with the snow plow on all the streets within a couple hours.
The closest skiing we have is either Dodge Ridge in Pinecrest, or Badger Pass in Yosemite. Both are about 90 minutes from our cabin and offer skiing, snowboarding, tubing and snow play. Dodge Ridge is the bigger resort of the two resorts.
